9 months & another one on the way!!

So I just realized that I skipped 8 months, but nothing has really changed!  We had our well visit check up today and big boy is 28 1/2" long & 22 1/2lbs!  He is a big one!  Dr. Dimmick said everything looks great and to keep up the good work!  We also had our terrible 2's talk today.  He said he has seen kids start as young as 9 months throwing temper tantrums.  Brody definetely gets mad at me but I don't think we have hit that stage yet and when he does it's not gonna be fun.  I am a discipliner so my poor son doesn't stand a chance.  Dr. Dimmick even mentioned that in our talk.  He was my Dr. growing up and if I could I would probably still go see him for random things, but he said well I know how you are so I'm pretty sure your going to do a good job when it comes to this.  He also said that I need to start giving him table food.  Now I am one paranoid mama and if it was up to me I would probably be feeding him baby food forever, but I guess I will let him gradually try things.  He did have rice salad and some kind of potatoe casserole yesterday and did fine but it's still scary to me.  Now lets get to the fun stuff that my little man is up to these day!

3-6oz bottles a day and the last one being at 3:30!

Still not a very good napper so we are lucky to get 2/30-45 min naps a day!

Still only eating stage 3 foods 3 times a day cause I'm scared to death of him choking, but he gets cereal for breakfast, a meat and veggie for lunch & a meat and veggie and a fruit for dinner!

He eats a lot and usually trys to throw a fit when we are done.

Loves bath time!  I sure hope this means he's gonna love the water as much as we do!

Loves his daddy!  If Bert is around it's all about him! 

Gives kisses every now and then, sometimes he just turns his head and laughs at you! Stinker!

Gives his mama a hug all the time.  Still won't hug his daddy.

Loves our dog Jesse!  He likes Sissy too but she's mean to him.

Loves his blankies (he has 4 so I can alternate them out)!  He usually never lets it go so he sleeps with it!

And he will take steps while we hold his hands and walk with him!

Brody is just an absolute joy to be around.  He is always smiling and happy!  Bert always jokes about how his face must hurt from smiling so much!  He was a pretty fussy baby so for him to go from fussing a lot to smiling even more is just great! 

We had a great long Easter weekend!  Even though Brody really isn't old enough to get into it we still had fun watching the cousin play on Sunday!  I am a horrible mother and didn't get any pictures.  We decided to go to the bay on Friday.  We took the boat and brought everything with the thought of we might finally get to take Brody out and see what he thinks.  Well when we got there the wind was pretty bad so Bert didn't even want to go fishing and fight the wind so we just stayed at the bay house and made some ribeyes and baked potatoes.  We went home that evening with the intentions on trying again Saturday.  I can't tell you what we did Saturday but I don't think we left the house but maybe once.  Sunday we got up and went to Church, then to visit Bert's mom and dad & then off to the bay again!  My son never naps at the bay so I was happy he slept for about 30 mins in the car on the way there.  We had a good time with the family.  Brody just loves watching Dory's kids, they always make him laugh cause they are so silly!  Mosquitos weren't horrible but if you got out in the grass they were and they started to stir up so we left about 5ish.  I was so tired I was falling asleep on the way home and Brody passed out before the car even started rolling.  So we got home ate, took and bath & were off to bed! 

Now for even more exciting news!!  Bert and I are having another baby!!  I know I'm crazy and it's going to be a handful but I'm pretty sure I can handle it!  We found out on February 16th.  My sister started to sale advocare products and we wanted to do the 24 day challenge.  I didn't need to lose weight I just wanted to feel better and put something healthy in my body.  I started that on February 6th.  I was the only one that wasn't feeling better I actually was feeling worse and at 1st I thought it was the spark cause of all the extra caffeine.  I drink sodas but maybe 1 a day and spark had way more caffeine in it.  Anyway the 16th I decided to take a test.  The 1st one had a very very faint line so I thought it can't be but I also had a digital one and that one came out with a big fat positive!  I pretty much freaked!  I was shaking so bad I couldn't even hold anything!  We weren't exactly trying to get pregnant like the charting or anything but we definetely weren't taking any precautions.  Anyway Bert had no clue that I was even going to test and I did it at work cause I didn't think anything of it I just figured I that I wasn't feeling good for some reason.  Instead of calling him I took a pic of the test and text it to him.  He called right away and was like "what is that?".  We are both super excited and I am a little nervous but it's going to be great having them so close in age!

Wednesday I go in for the worst part of the pregnancy and that is to have my cerclage placed.  I am not looking forward to this at all.  One major reason is I know I will not be able to pick up my son that day or the next day.  My mom is keeping him so I know he will be ok, but I still want him with me.  Bert said if he isn't on a job we can go there in the evening and feed him, bathe him & put him down for bed so we will see.  I don't really remember everything from last time but I do remember getting up the next moring, and I always have my bed made, so I tried to make it and that was the worst decision I made.  I will talk to my Dr. more about it Wednesday morning beofe I go in. 

On anther good note we are closing on our house tomorrow morning so hopefully our builders can start with the add on soon cause we sure need it!!!

7 Months!!

Ok so I'm finally going to do Brody's 7 month blog.  I don't even know where to begin.  He is 20 1/2lbs as of his Dr. visit yesterday.  He's not crawling but he does use his upper body to pull himself around so he will get anywhere that he wants to go and he's getting faster by the day.  Poor Sissy doesn't know what to do with him.  He just got his 3rd tooth in and the 4th one is working on coming out and also his top 2 are trying to come out so I guess in about a week he's gonna have a mouth full of teeth. Time to move onto steaks!!!  He still gets bored so easy but he is a lot happier baby these days.  He gets 3 solids a day, breakfast, lunch & dinner and 3 6oz. bottles a day.  I love the fact that he doesn't need a bottle to go to sleep.  He has bottles at 6:30, 11:30 & 3:30 and solids at 8:00, 1:00 & 6:00.  Bedtime is still at 7 and by that time he is super cranky so he's always ready for bed.  He still does not nap good during the day but maybe a total of 1-1 1/2 hours. 

The past weekend Brody got to go to a party!!!  They had a surprise birthday party for Bert's brother Roland on Saturday.  We had planned on going but then of course Bert got called out on a job.  I was pretty skeptical going by myself but I knew all of the family was going to be there so I decided to go and Bert meet us there later.  He should of really been there almost on time but he got stuck on location.  Oilfield is so unpredictable.  As soon as Brody & I walked through the door he was taken from me.  I couldn't even tell you how long it was until I finally got him back.  A bunch of our friends were there and most of them haven't even seen Brody but in pictures cause we just don't get out much these days so everyone was happy to finally meet him.  He started getting pretty cranky around bedtime so I just cuddled him and surprisingly he fell asleep for about 30 minutes with music blarring and all.  Once he got up off he goes again.  I probably should of went home with him but I knew Bert wanted to make an appearance at the party so we waited on him.  He got there a little after 8 and we stayed til about 10:15 and went home.  Brody was pretty good the whole time.  He wasn't his usual smiling self but we were teething, still had a cold and a few short cat naps during the day.  At least he didn't cry the whole time.  Since we had such a late night I figured he would sleep in but I was wrong....he was wide awake like normal at 6:30.  I wish he would learn the days of the week already!  Here's a pic from the party.  It's not that good but that's all I got.  Starting him off young!!

My poor baby still has a cold.  Yep, the same one he's had since November.  Everytime it starts to get better, bam, we are hit with it again.  I finally decided to avoid STMC in El Campo and I took him to the Dr. my cousin switched to in Sugarland.  It worked out since I had an appt with my Dr. in Houston.  Two of the Dr's. in EC kept telling me "let it run it's course".  Well they don't try to sleep in my house at night.  So we met with Dr. Scott yesterday and she was super nice!  Even Brody seemed to really like her.  He had no problem with her looking in his ears or digging the wax out.  These were the 2 worst things they could do to him at STMC.  Maybe EC Dr's were a little to rough IDK.  Anyway everything checked out fine but she said it sounds like he's been having back to back colds and there may be some bacteria sitting down in there making it linger longer.  Finally someone to give me antibbiotics!!  She said it would make his poop red but not to worry as it's not blood, but this should knock out that nasty stuff.  Keep your fingers crossed that this works.  On the other hand we are on the down side of what seems to me like his 3rd cold so nights have been really good.

6 Months!

Brody has reached is half year Birthday!!  I wanted to get him a present even though I know it's kind of crazy but I forgot something at Christmas time and needed an excuse but my husband told me I don't think so.  My mom & I both can't believe we forgot about a little red wagon.  Every kid needs one.  Anyways we had Brody's 6 month check up and shots on Monday.  He weighed in at 19lbs and is about 26 1/2" long.  He has always been ok with shots but these made him really cranky.  He went to bed super cranky and my normally extremely happy morning baby was still super cranky the next day.  Daycare said after lunch he got better and by the time I picked him up he was in such a good mood so we went to my mom and dad's to visit.  Usually by the time I pick him up he is over tired and cranky cause he won't nap but Tuesday was a totally different story. 

Here is what Brody is up to (not really anything new) and not up to these days : He will stay sitting for a few minutes once I sit him up (not sitting up on his own yet), he is getting 3 8 oz bottles and 1 4-5 oz bottle, eating dinner very well and he has liked everything I have given him except turkey, getting better at keeping himself entertained but he still loves attention and to be held, and finally, since he got sick in November, sleeping all night (we have had 3 nights of uninterrupted sleep)!! He has his favorite toys that we don't go anywhere without ecspecially the one we call monkey head, it's a monkey head with a blanket attached (you see them everywhere but i don't know what they are called), I love watching him reach out for all of his favortie things it is just so cute, everything he sees goes straight to his mouth and gets SLIMED!  Still only has 2 teeth but I'm expecting more soon.  The top doesn't look like anything but on each side of his 2 bottom teeth it looks really white and feels kind of bumpy but I really don't know what I'm looking for.  Still doesn't roll over.  I now know of 5 times that he has rolled over and only 2 of those times have been witnessed and 1 of the missed times was from belly to back in his crib.  I woke up the next morning with a tummy sleeper so now I put him to bed like that cause he slept so good.  And the best for last!!!  He is starting to hug my neck and I absolutely love it!!!  He wraps his little arms around so tight and squeezes!!  I don't think he realizes yet what he's doing but he does it everyday everytime I pick him up!!  He just melts my heart!!

If I forgot anything I will realize it and do another post later.  It has just been a super bad week and my brain isn't functioning right.  I lost a great co-worker this week and things just won't be the same without him.

Our 1st Family Christmas!!!

I have been waiting for this day for a long time now!!  I was so excited about Christmas this year that I even bought all of our presents early so that meant I couldn't procrastinate putting up my tree since I had presents to put under it!!  We woke up Christmas morning and I fed Brody and we went in to wake up daddy and tell him Santa had been here!!   He was complaining about getting up cause he didn't feel good blah blah blah!!  I just blew it off and told him to hurry so we could open gifts.  So finally he came in there and it was time!!  He handed all of Brody's gifts to him and he just couldn't stop staring at them and reaching for them.  So once again Bert got to help him open gifts while I took pics!  It was so much fun!!  He got more toys that will be used more in a couple months but it is so hard to buy things for infants.  I honestly believe he loved them all.  In his stocking he got one of the little blankets with the monkey head on top that he absolutely loves right now.  So much so that he goes to sleep better with it but I always go in and take it away since I'm still a crazy paranoid mom.  I had already gotten my gifts early since I usually can't wait.  I mean y'all wouldn't have pictures to look at if I wouldn't have gotten one of them early on and I also got a beautiful necklace from my boys!!  I had got Bert a GPS for his truck and also one for when he goes hunting so he doesn't get lost.  He usually goes on 2 hunting trips a year and there's a lot of walking involved.  After we were done opening gifts Brody and daddy went back to sleep.  Oh well I had cooked a big breakfast so I sat down to enjoy it.  Brody got up so we played some before I started our Christmas lunch.  Bert was still sleeping.  My mom came over to see what Brody got and to eat lunch with us.  Dad had gone back to work so she was home alone.  We ate and it was really good.  Bert got out of bed but didn't eat and then I knew something was really wrong with him.  After mom left I took his temp and he was actually sick.  Bert complains a lot and I usually just blow it off and ignore him but he was really sick this time.  It must have been some 24 hour bug cause it was gone the next morning and thank goodness neither Brody or I got it.  All in all we had a great 1st Family Christmas!!

Meemaw Kana Christmas!

Yes we have tons of Christmas' each year but hey now with Brody we get all kind of stuff!  I didn't want to put them all in one blog cause that would just be way too long.  We had Christmas with Dad's family on the 23rd.  The kids get all the gifts here but it is so much fun watching them open everything.  My Grandma has 1 young grandchild and 6 great grandchildren so all of them in this small house is pretty funny!  My Aunt Christine got Brody this toy it's round and looks like a cow and when you push his nose he moo's and vibrates like crazy...well this was Brody's favorite toy of the night.  Of course everything goes in his mouth so his whole head was vibrating.  It was hilarious!  Meemaw usually just gives gives my mom money to pick out stuff for the kids so of course they all got stuff they wanted!!  Brody got Scout (yes he wanted Scout) from Big Meemaw and I think I've enjoyed it more than him already!

Kana Family Christmas!!

We had Christmas with my family on the 22nd!  I just knew my mother had gone over board with gifts for all the kids but that's ok cause Brody loves everything he got I think!  We got there early to visit and play for a while before it was gift time.  Well of course it was in the evening and since Brody doesn't nap during the day he is usually pretty fussy.  Thank goodness mom has a crib there so I was able to put him down without having to worry about him.  I let him sleep while we ate and everything and poor baby was out but I didn't want him to sleep through presents so I went and woke him up.  He wasn't very happy about that but he cheered up for a little bit and right after we were done I put him back down.  He really seemed to be more into this time and decided he wanted to eat the wrapping paper and the bows.  He got all kind of stuff!   Most of it he can't play with right now but he should be able to in a couple of months.

Skoruppa Family Christmas!!

The year we had the Skoruppa Family Christmas in Angeltong at Mark & Sharon's house!  We weren't going to start everything until 1 but we got up early and went to hangout all day over there.   It was great!!  Brody did really well and seemed to enjoy all the attention and the presents!  Brody got a lot of presents so daddy got to enjoy opening them while mommy stood back and took pictures.  It had turned out to be a really nice day but it was still a little cool and windy for Brody to be outside with him just getting over ear infections so we just stayed inside and relaxed the whole time.  While everyone was outside we had some quiet time to sneak in little naps here and there.  Here are a few pics from that Christmas.
